I've been part of this argument since my S7, they would my first year to buy an unlocked phone, doing my research and shopping I came across a international variant which was consecutively 50 - 75 dollars cheaper oh, I live in the United States I'm going to be using a mvno, so it does not matter if it's a GSM or CDMA. I then read USA it's a different version than the standard World version, USA gets snapdragon wow the world international model Samsung in house Exxenios Processor. Apparently they used Qualcomm in the states, because it's y'all better radio antennas for dealing with the old CDMA Networks. Once I read this I immediately assumed Samsung Made Exxenios would LIKELY BE BETTER, I assume that's because bacon design the processor for the phone as opposed to buying a generic processor and tuning it. This train of thought makes sense to me, they should be able to design a much more efficient battery saving processor, With their phone.. Right? And then seeing this version was cheaper I immediately bought one on eBay. When it arrived I was really excited oh, I had my GSM Sim already. unboxing the phone and turning it on, I first remember how hot in my hand it felt only after a couple minutes of the setup screen, it ship with 55% battery, and After Finally, Like 20 minutes, Of setup I got to Homescreen, with 19 % battery and a Little space heater Phone... so I plugged it in, and did a update check... no updates for, Samsung unlocked version.. im on Android 6, with TouchWiz... and other at 7 that this time we're getting the Android 7 upgrade with the Samsung Experience or whoever they called their skin ran much better and look much better. Finally got the phone setup, I only ever could get one or two bars of service. When playing a game or other intense processor activity, I would notice the phone we get very hot fast, and would run smoothly then chugg, In lile 5 second Waves.. it was very strange, run well and then it stopped, even Moving in menus it would slow whwn I'm dragging Making the animations all Klunky... after about two weeks I'm not a happy camper, another thing. I cannot keep this battery charged even when I would sleep, if I went to sleep with 100% I wake up with 65. So the troubleshooter tech nerd in me decided to figure this problem out, this was not how any of my friends or even how the display model of the S7 works from what I've seen. Upon checking the battery usage statistics, 2 top battery user always Android system. Even when playing a game Android system would typically be in the top 3 of battery users. Based on the information available from the built-in tool and several apps I tried. Of course I couldn't get to any good info on processor scheduling, when the phone is asleep if it even has a sleep state. Only the basic information of which apps are using what percentage and that information is not very useful there are several Android system entries battery usage details. I knew that the phone must need an update, or something. Clearly there was no low-power state scheduled it with their in-house processor, I figured something was keeping the processor in a high-energy state, not allowing the 7 to enter a low power sleep mode. I tried deleting disabling apps, I basically the only had the stock apps on this point, still waiting on the update which I learned Samsung releases the updates for their unlocked versions last and sometimes not at all. Try disabling all Facebook apps tried factory resetting. Then I decide to look more into this Samsung in-house processor versus the US Qualcomm Snapdragon, I'm immediately greeted after my search when a video of two phones racing to see which is faster I'm very curious about this myself imma I wasn't happy after I watch the video. This is when I learned about the whole deal. Thought about returning the phone, but another option was available, route is available on the non Qualcomm version. One could simply root the phone, I know she was excited me as I'm a major tinkerer. Then I can choose my own scheduler, how I could even set the clock rate lower if I wanted, or disable the big or little Coors, I learn how to root the phone and do it, turn on the rooted phone total shitshow, tons of lag and chug, and immediately turned extremely hot. This can't be right I think oh, oh there's a custom updated kernel. After attempting and breaking the phone, Court required a complete reflash I finally install the kernal correctly, and its No change.. Sure I can switch it from the pro hot schedule, to the interactive scheduler. Why was septic Pro hot, which basically just cranks each quart to a hundred ones load is applied. Was the standard Samsung setting, says a lot about their, hardware and software programming skills. Even with the interactive scheduler and 2 to small or one big core disabled the phone for the laggy mess, the battery still burned up 50% while I slept or while I was awake. I finally sent that piece of shit back, and got a US version. Howard shopping by model number, difference between the US and international unlocked versions is one extra letter. But damn that letter makes a difference. Upon getting the Qualcomm version. I do an update check and find that there's an update available yay, Android 7 much better looking than Android 6 TouchWiz. Honestly still miss Android 7 sometimes even today. Especially love the Google Play icon triangle. But now finally I could enjoy the S7 Android 7 fix Android OS sucking down all the battery issue, the phone ran much smoother and the battery lasted much longer, if I didn't touch the phone much I can't even make it last 2 or 3 days. It's still got extremely hot when playing the game. Snapdragon 820 is famous for this, that's what I learned about this bullshit that Samsung still does. It's basically a con you're buying and paying for what you assume is a decent product, but the Samsung in-house processor version is literally like paying for an S7 and getting an S2. But it is not clearly marked they both cost the exact same and the international version has been proven to be much slower, and much more demanding on the battery. 20 or 30% slower and that much more battery usage and most cases. This is shyster territory. It's no different than buying a expensive computer, when you get it and you open the case, expecting core i7, and you get a Pentium. The outside box looks the same the one in significantly better. And my case the Samsung design processor made the phone nearly useless, my old phone works lasted longer and and ran just as fast. was the Samsung J-3, what is a low-end $200 phone. I'm extremely careful about when I make a purchase, I would never buy any Samsung made processor, interesting to note, the new Nvidia ampere gpus, like the RTS 3700, is a Samsung made GPU processor. Although they seem to have done a much better job in this case. Although their cards clearly aren't available enough for testing, for at least testing by me. How much rather get a new Navi card if possible. And I also agree with your last statement oh that makes me very sad. I'm on my Note 9 right now, and I cracked the screen, they have a deal offering a trade in for the new 20, and then split the note line up TO DRIVE UP PROFITS, Which must have worked since they did it again... im so torn on what q get .. you get the new note Ultra is making me think about it are there $500 is quite a bit for technically a downgrade. I'll have to go to the store and see if the refresh rate, and new camera sensor are really even worth a couple extra hundred. Even if they torrent, I have 256 gigabytes SD card in my nine right now. But the new note is so advanced they couldn't put SD storage on the basic note. So I could just throw my SD card away so obviously can't buy that note. Thanks Samsung 4 fucking things up so badly you lost a customer for life for this. Likely going to be trying a LG

As a result of this test I like you will never purchase another Samsung device of any sort ever again. I've always preferred Apple software anyway so my decision isn't too bad for me. The fact that this still isn't against the law is the biggest problem here. Samsung has been ROBBING people with SoCs in their phones for YEARS now. They are literally selling the same product across various regions with different brains. It's just like Nintendo being allowed to sell both versions of the Switch at the same price, knowing one is more power efficient than the other. Even Nintendo has honor...along with people immediately picking up on various hints of this despite Nintendo's subtle release of the v2 Switch. Because my Note 20 U is such a darling to me, it WILL be my last Samsung phone...unless Samsung gets their shit together. The whole S21 line just shows how much more Samsung has defected into an Apple clone, con artist, and much more appropriately - the TRUE Apple Mini.

I wonder how comes that people are fine with paying the same price for worse phones with Exynos CPU's which are slower, generate more heat and burn through battery faster..

They have done it with the s21 ultra, as well as the performance difference I believe the processor algorithm acts different whilst processing certain photos thus giving different results. This is the 1st time in a long time I am skipping upgrading from my s20 ultra for their latest flagship.
Honestly I love the snapdragon, I have the A50 that has the Exynos since it isn't an American flagship it's a lower mid grade, but then I saved and bought th S10 and that had the snapdragon 855 I believe and holy flipping crop what a dang difference in everything!

In short, the Exynos processor lowers the manufacturing cost, and it offsets the import tax. It is why, except for the US and a few European countries, Samsung uses the Exynos processor for the rest of the world.
I had the S4, S7 Edge and S9. I definitely don't buy a new samsung product in the next years. Price, Bloatware, laggy software, just 3 years Android updates on a 1000 €/$ device, exynos, bad battery life, etc.

I had a fight with Samsung store as they never sell Snapdragon in India, so I had to drop S20 and went with M51. They also never had the 512Gb version available like the USA variant in India. Samsung knows the market very well and knows how to play it very well. People pay the same money ask over the world but still this how they get treated.
Don't even have money to buy a processor and yet they are selling flagships that differentiate between 2 different phones when they should have all the same components.

All I care about is how long my phone works on a single charge. Definitely my S20 Exynos has to be charged twice a day and it drives me crazy! I would prefer less powerful (don't play games at all) but more endurant smartphone. Anyway I still don't understand how a smartphone can be more expensive than any notebook

Here is why samsung use exynos, it is a LOT cheaper because they make it in house. Snapdragon is expensive so they sell only to US market because that's where many reviewers are located and are compared to Apple. By misleading the world outside US, Scamsung pockets all the extra profit on top of normal profit from the exynos It's all about money my friends samsung don't care about you lol

The Exynos has never been good! No matter how good the technical data they put out there it still doesn't do well. This has been proven so many times without number. Lots of videos out there showing a detailed comparison between the two processors. If you gonna sell a product and boast of its capacity, then it should be consistent across the board and regions since it's being sold at the same price or more in certain regions. Either use the same chipsets and components across the board or don't sell them at all. I live in Brazil and the Samsung is slowly losing its fan base since: 1. The Exynos processor heats up a lot and drains battery quicker 2. Lost its core values of being different and offering more rather than copying Apple with every launch of their flagship. 3. As a consumer living Brazil where such tech gadgets are way and extremely expensive due to inflation and high taxes, selling a Samsung Exynos chipset variant for the note or S line flagships knowing its sub-par to those launched with the snapdragon is a lack of respect. As a way of swaying consumers, they give the snapdragon variant to some youtubers for testing and first impressions and later launch the Exynos variant for sale in Brazil. I think these reviewers should call them out for false marketing as well. I use to love samsung and but now I might just find some other manufacturer who has the decency of being upfront with their products and not advertise one thing and sell you the other.

TBH Exynos is the reason I likely won't be buying Samsung moving forward. I was debating going from the S8 to the s20 FE (5G) which is Snapdragon world wide, but if I don't get that phone, it won't be a Samsung at all. As much as I like Samsung for my last 4 phones, I just can't stick with a company that changes us more for weaker hardware.

Including discounts and such, and without that data being presented I cannot say what is or what isn't ethical. Until this video I was always under the impression that the exynos chips were faster than QC. If Samsung is making this common practice, what are other manufactures doing? But without price+discount information we aren't really dealing with the whole issue.

same, galaxy buds+ broke within a week (granted they were first batch, got them exclusively jus before they were officially released but still), s10s front camera stopped working for a day the day after i got it. a year later the charging is extremely unreliable (stops charging/claims its "fast charging" but takes 6hrs to charge from 60%), also not mentioning how it freezes constantly and slows down and needing to restart 5 times a day rant over this phone is jus such a pain
IMPORTANT : In Perú, the note 20 ultra has an exynos and ONLY 8gb of RAM instead 12 and NO 5g, ONLY 4G. this is sold at 1300 us dollars and is a total SCAM. No one saying anything
